“THE DAY AGAINST GENDER VIOLENCE”

I have always wondered why we celebrate “The day against gender violence” on November 25? The reason why we celebrete this day on November 25 is because on this date in 1960 in Latin America three sisters were murdered by order of the dictator Rafael Leónidas Trujillo because they were against his dictatorship. Since 1981 Latin America has celebrated this day in their honor and Europe since 1999.

Since ever women have always had to fight for their rights, because they were considered inferior to men. They were not allowed to be educated, to get a job and other things that would be allowed for a man. During years we have moved towards a more egalitarian society, because for example before Christ the society thought that women were a natural defect.

There a lot of women who have fought for their rights like Concepción Arenal, who was born in 1820 in La Coruña, she studied law at the Central University of Madrid when it wasn’t allowed for women to study yet. It was with her when feminism was born in Spain. Another example is Clara Campomar, who was born in Madrid in 1888 and is one of the great figures of the struggle for the equal rights of women. She created the Feminine Republican Union in Spain.

To sum up, we are in the 21st century and, from my point of view, gender violence or other violence should not exist. We should not be used to all theses pieces of news that appear on television such as “This week a man has killed his wife” or “He has beaten his girlfriend to death”.

BOB DYLAN

Bob Dylan, whose real name is Robert Allen Zimmerman, was born in United States on 24th May 1941. He is a musician, singer and songwriter, who was really influential in the twentieth and twenty-first century. His songs have a variety of social, political, philosophical and literary themes. He is 75 years old now and lives in Malibu.

Some of his most famous songs are “Like a Rolling Stone”, “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door” and “Lay Lady Lay”. During his career, which started in 1959, he has won a lot of awards. Some of his awards are Prince of Asturias Awards, Golden Globe Awards, Grammy Awards and Grammy Hall of Fame.

But the most famous award is the Nobel Prize for Literature this year, which has caused different opinions: the first is that he doesn’t deserve the award because there are a lot of better writers and poets before him, and they only give him the award for publicity; and the second is that he deserves the award for the amazing lyrics of his songs, but sadly for the people who think that he deserves it the director of the Nobel Foundation has stated that he had already arranged some appointments.

From my point of view, only poets and writers should win this award, not songwriters although they have written amazing lyrics.

DUBLIN

Last year in my school there were three travels to choise. One was to Monaco, another to Galicia and Madrid, and the other one to Dublin. Finally I chose to go to Dublin, because in my opinion it was the best of the threee travels. If I had gone to France, I would have had to travel by bus an entire day and it is so uncomfortable. And I didn't choose to go to Galicia and Madrid because I preferred to leave Spain.

The travel to Dublin was amazing! I had a lot of fun! During the week we went to different places, where we could see fantastic things. We had to go to classes some days, too. Also we went to St. Paatrick's parade, where there were a lot of people who were from Dublin and different countries. The majority were dressed in green clothes. After that week we had to come back to Spain.

We arrived at the airport and when we were checking in the luggage a woman told us that our flight had been cancelled. I remember that everybody was like "What ?" "What are we going to do?" and a few persons were crying.

We had to spend an other two days in Dublin in a hotel. But for me it was the best part of the trip. After that we come back to Spain.

MY BEST FRIEND

Today I am going to write about Elena, who is one of my best friends. She has been in the same class as me at school since we were 12 years old. She was the first person that I met there.

Now, she is 16 years old,she is thin and she is the tallest girl in my class. She is taller than some boys. She has got short black hair, but I am sure that in a few months she will have red or purple hair, because she loves dying her hair. She has got big brown eyes and a beautiful smile. She always wears dark clothes, because it is her favourite colour.

She is very smart, cheerful and funny. She is the most friendly girl that I khow! Everybody thinks that she is very generous! She is a little talkative, too. She loves listening to music, and her favourite singer is Adam Levine. A lot of famous songs have been written by him. She loves readind books, too, for example she is reading one called "No culpes al karma de lo que te pasa por gilipollas". It has been written by Laura Norton.

Elena and I are good friends, because we are not very different. Elena is a very good friend. Everyone should have a friend like her!
